Yes, we changed the ticker to avoid confusion with another token, ALAX, and to be better reflect our brand.
There are many reasons for this. Perhaps the easiest to understand is that it is not economic to conduct micropayments (e.g. payments of amounts less than a dollar) in dollars through any existing commercial channels. In a cryptocurrency, using well selected technology, managing payments of even a few cents can be economic. Our business model requires a real-time micropayments ability.
The Permission Token (ticker: ASK) will move from our testnet environment to our mainnet at the end of 2018.
We encrypt all data when we store it or when we move it. For user data we implement a public key/private key infrastructure using AES 256. The private key is known only to the user.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an added layer of security. In order to access sensitive information such as your profile or your wallet, you will need to enter a pin or token provided by authenticator application. Currently, we support Authy and Google Authenticator. If you are new to 2FA, don’t worry! We will walk you through installing and setting up an authenticator application when you complete your anonymous profile information at Permission.io
The Permission roadmap can be found on pages 17 and 18 of our whitepaper.
Permission employs a third-party ID management system to verify the “real user” along with 2FA and Google recaptcha for bot prevention.
More information about the Permission Blockchain can be found on page 10 of our whitepaper.
Data Algebra makes a significant contribution in two areas. First it helps in the management of metadata at scale. This is a problem we will encounter as the user population grows. Secondly it provides an important ability to accelerate queries which will also prove useful when we need to scale to accommodate many millions of users.
BAT pursues a different business idea that connects publishers, advertisers, and users. The advertisers place their ads on websites that users visit. We connect advertisers directly to our members.
